In April 2011 The Residence, a luxurious villa resort opened on the beautiful south-west coast of Zanzibar. This is the only member of “The Leading Hotels of the World” in Tanzania, offering a contemporary style, whilst also keeping the island’s traditional African charm and Omani heritage. Set amidst 80 acres of palm tree forests on the mile long white sandy beach; this small hotel boasts just 66 luxury villas, all of which boast private pools. 

Accommodation at The Residence:
Each of the 66 villas features satellite TV, CD/DVD player, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, bath robes, mosquito nets, personal safe, tea and coffee making facilities, broadband internet access, air-conditioning and overhead fans. On the deck outside your villa you can enjoy wicker furniture and a day bed overlooking a private swimming pool (30 – 35 m2 and 1.2 m deep),  The 34 Luxury Garden Pool Villas (one bedroom) are surrounded by tall coconut palms, these wonderfully appointed villas feature a large living room that leads out onto a private deck where you will also find a day-bed, a couple of sun loungers with parasol and a private pool. The spacious bathroom features WC, double basins, stand-alone bath and separate shower. The bathroom leads into a private small garden area which boasts an outdoor romantic shower. Luxury Ocean Front Pool Villas which have direct accesss to the beach. Frangipani Garden Pool Villas – (two bedrooms) are set in tropical gardens, these villas offer adequate space for a family or two couples travelling together. As above but with an additional bedroom and bathroom. Frangipani Ocean Front Pool Villas are also available for a supplement, these villas have direct accress to the beach and include private butler service.

Bars and Restaurants at The Residence Zanzibar:
The Dining Room is the main restaurant that offers an array of local and international dishes with a hint of Zanzibar “spice”. The Pavilion Restaurant specialises in Middle Eastern, Greek, Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, open for dinner daily this restaurant is filled with the warmth of Zanzibar. The Beach & Pool Side Bar and restaurant offer a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks and a variety of snacks, cocktails and canapés are also served around the pool and the pontoon.  The Library Bar allows guests to step back in time to the original colonial splendour that Heritage of East Africa once offered.
