The Samburu Safari Kenya
The 6 night Samburu Safari takes in the 'classic' safari route, making this the perfect introduction to Kenya. Covering all if the main reserves Kenya has to offer including the Aberdares Mountain Range, the plains of Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley and the infamous Masai Mara.
The Aberdares Mountain range is home to large herds of Elephants and other game. You will experience a night at Treetops; it was here that Princess Elizabeth awoke one morning in 1952 to find her father had passed away and she had become queen, making Treetops one of the most famous game viewing lodges in the world. Overlooking a watering hole and salt lick game viewing from here is a relaxing experience. The lodge is built on stilts offering stunning views over the mountains, the rooftop terrace and open balconies are the ideal vantage points for viewing and photographing the wildlife.
Samburu in the North of Kenya is home to the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo), here you will also find the rarer species such as the Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe and Blue Legged Somali Ostrich, species rarely seen elsewhere in East Africa. The Ewaso Nyiro River runs through the heart of the reserve offering a perfect watering hole, this is where 'The Secret Lives of Elephants' was filmed and a paradise for those searching for a variety of game in stunning surroundings.
Lake Nakuru is situated in the Great Rift Valley, known for its fantastic bird life. It is hear where you can expect to see a pink mist over the lake - a breathtaking display of pink flamingos sitting on the water. Nakuru also boasts the highest population of Rhino's in East Africa, along with other plains game such as the Zebra, Gazelle, Buffalo, Giraffe's and Elephant's to name a few.
Finishing the two nights in the Masai Mara at Keekorok Lodge; ne of the first lodges built in the Mara and home to the infamous 'Hippo Pool Bar'. The plains of the Masai Mara play host to the annual Great Migration, it is also home to the Big 5 and numerous other species, you may also be lucky enough to spot Kenya's big cats.
